Beyond the horizon

about

"Beyond the horizon" is an apocalyptic dream of a world when reality has become so unbearable that all humanity has left to cope is vague, fantastic, and unobtainable dreams of something better.

You will notice that the main vocals are pretty soft in the verses. The reason of that is that, back when I wrote the song and recorded the demo that would eventually become this final version, I had recorded several versions of the verses. But when I wanted to finish the song for this album, I realized that I had lost the actual project files to the various versions of the verses, so that I had to use a few tricks in order to get the desired vocals (which only existed as full mixes including instrumentation in .wav format) into the final mix. Long story short, this was the best I could do... Also, those various versions of the verses weren't recorded with a professional microphone since they were only intended to be a demo. Ultimately, I had to use them though, so I decided to give them a kind of radio or through-the-telephone sound.

lyrics

- Beyond the horizon -

Today the sky is in mourning dress
pouring tears on a bloody mess
to cleanse the giant blemish beneath
and let awareness grow.
But when the last innocence was killed
dreams of peace beyond the horizon
were the last opponent to the guilt;
Silent, vague, and unfulfilled...

In the realm of shadows down here
there's a grotesquerie in a twilight sphere.
Shooting stars explode in the dark
and burn this world away.
But when the last dim candle was dead
dreams of light beyond the horizon
were the last opponent to the dread;
Silent, vague, and never met.
