Destroy me

from Myopia (2007) by Utopia Now

/

about

"Destroy me" probably is the oldest of all Utopia Now {and even Indigo) songs. I must have written it sometime between 2001 and 2002, so it really is ancient for someone my age ;) It was written about my first big love and the intense emotional turmoil I was going through at the time (and that even BEFORE shit REALLY hit the fan!!! ;->) Today, I obviously find those pathetic lyrics silly and somewhat embarrassing. But well, I was who I was at the time...

This song was one of those fan favorites back when we were playing shows. It was also our typical closer.

lyrics

Here I am kneeling in front of you,
see those tears, running down my cold face.
See that deep hole in my pain-swollen chest,
see my bleeding heart carry your name.
Go away!
Stay!
I love you!
I hate you!
I`m dying inside;
how I hate to love you.
You are the poison that keeps me alive.
Save me with your loving smile.

Chorus:
You destroy me!

A corner of the room, I am crying alone,
as my head is about to explode.
One million memories, like rock-solid stones
torture me – an unbearable load.
Shut up!
Please talk to me!
Leave me alone!
Hold me!
My world has collapsed,
like all the lies that you told me.
My only self-defense : I hide in denial.
Save me with your loving smile.

Chorus:
You destroy me!

Bridge:
Now I`m sitting here, so desperate,
and I don`t know what to do,
cause my whole life plan was built upon
the sweet love of you.
Now the sky has turned into depressing grey.
I am speechless,
there`s only one thing left to say:

Chorus:
You destroy me!
