about

"The competition" was one of the few songs I have ever written that were directly inspired by a Bad Religion song. In this case, it was "Prove it" off of 2002's "the Process of Belief". I wanted to write a song that was short, poignant, and aggressive. This is what I came up with.
The song talks about our increasingly competitive and dehumanized culture in which measurable numbers and standardized tests are massively more important than real human characteristics.
